Australian Journal of Earth Sciences Special Issue 2026-27

Submissions are now open for the second thematic edition on regolith through the Australian Journal of Earth Sciences. This follows the first successful thematic edition of AJES from 2017 (AJES Vol 64/8).

We are welcoming submissions on any and all things regolith and Critical Zone, which could include:

• Fundamental regolith processes
• Review papers
• Exploration through cover
• Anthropogenic regolith and mine waste 
• Tracing palaeochannels
• Critical minerals in the regolith
• Groundwater studies
• Critical Zone research
• Soil research
• Spectral and hyperspectral imaging of regolith
• Regolith petrophysics
• Multidisciplinary studies including machine learning and artificial intelligence for understanding regolith
• Regolith eduction 
• And more!

Our editors are Jonathon Clarke, Owen Missen and Leah Lynham:

• For all planetary, exploration, groundwater and education regolith related work please address your cover letter to Jonathon Clarke.
• For geochemistry related regolith including mine waste and anthropogenic geochemistry please address your letters to Owen Missen.
• For any geomorphology, palaeontology or sedimentology regolith related work please address your letter to Leah Lynham. 
• For anything else the Editors in Chief at AJES can help assign your manuscript to who will best fit!
